Volunteering

To ALL BMBA Directors, Coordinators, Coaches & Helpers,

A big THANKS to all of you for your generous assistance this season.   Without it ,  the 2009 season could not have been such a success, and our 450+ players would not have had such positive experiences.

Looking to the coming months, Fall Ball leagues will operate through Thanksgiving.  It is an opportunity for second year divisional players to improve on their baseball skills and new divisional players a chance to be introduced to the style of play offered next spring.  Senior Tadpoles through Midget players will be invited to participate.

This season usually has its initial games or tournaments starting on the Labour Day Weekend.  Due to the diminishing sunlight, games are held only on the weekends.  Hopefully the interest generated in the Fall Ball and Winter training programs will benefit our players and coaches - leading to higher levels of skill development for the 2010 season.

In order to once again experience success in the coming year, we need to determine the resources involved to make it happen, and fill these positions immediately.  Our Fall Ball season requires the most urgent attention.  Listed below are a selection of the positions and duties for this coming season. If are able to assist in any of these roles, reply to this mailing with your level of commitment and/or comments or questions.  Please note, without a significant increase in our coordinating  / coaching  pool, our ability to remain operational and competitive in all four divisions is in jeopardy.

Fall Ball Positions

Coordinators (Mosquito through Midget)

 - determine interest for Fall ball,

 - select teams

 - schedule preparation, rule distribution & division representation

Head Coaches & Assistants (Midget through Mosquito)

 - educate and mentor new coaches to the division

 - manage and train individual teams, and

 - provide input to coordinator as required

Umpire Coordinator

 - scheduling and communications with umpires

Training and Development Coordinator

 - assist & advise with the group training programs

Equipment and Field Coordinators

 - distribute playing equipment

 - recommended acquisition of new stock

 - line & maintain diamonds

 - ensure landscaping tools are available

We look forward to your participation in one or more of the areas listed above. Once these positions are filled, we can then commence our invitation to interested Fall Ball players.  Having committed individuals assisting in these areas will ensure consistency and results in our programming.  Regretfully, divisions not having coordinator and coaching representation will not be in operation this fall; so please take this opportunity to volunteer for the benefit of our young players.

Best Regards,

David Adamoski & William Wong
